Medical imaging specializes in imaging, and that is part of what makes us pretty great at our jobs. But being an imaging specialist also means that we are also in charge of figuring out what is normal and what is abnormal. And what makes that even more important is that we have to decide what kind of imaging needs to be done. We have to make sure that our patients are getting the right kinds of tests, and then we have to make sure that we are doing those tests in the proper way.
