Check These 1980s & 1990s Bollywood Fashion Trends Making a Comeback

by Yash

Most often, history is a great teacher of future events! Female fashion trends are a prime illustration of this. Everything you liked about the 1990s—or maybe even anything you hated—is making a comeback right now. Now that they’ve returned, they look better than ever. You probably think it’s bizarre that fashion is making a big comeback.

Given the close relationship between 80’s Bollywood fashion and 90’s Bollywood fashion, many still try to recreate the looks worn by our favourite ladies onscreen. So, I made the decision to go back in time in light of all these well-known trends that are making a comeback.

Scroll down to see some of the modern looks Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop offers that Bollywood celebrities wore in the 1990s:

Chiffon Sarees

In the 1990s, chiffon sarees really took off and thrived. In practically every movie, these sarees are worn by the heroines. Raveena Tandon’s appearance in Mohra was one of the more iconic scenes.

Even today, regal chiffon sarees remain fashionable. Although it is occasionally updated, it is a timeless piece that looks fantastic whether it is worn forwards or backwards and is ideal for the summer due to its sheer, breezy fabric.

Dungarees

Denim dungarees were equally well-known as the many iconic fashion highlights from this film, including tracksuits and braids. They vanished for a spell, and now they’re slowly making their way back. These days, you can wear this in a number of loose, short, flaring, etc. fabrics and designs. Your choice! They even contribute to the trend of utilitarian clothing is a chic approach to maintaining comfort and style simultaneously.

 Crop tops

If you haven’t noticed the surge in sales of crop tops in fashion, you must be living under a rock. When the Spice Girls became popular, they first had a significant impact. In more films than I can remember, every actress donned a different variation. This top was worn with shorts, jeans, and even matching sets to show off their toned bare shoulders. Leading actresses of the period, like Shilpa Shetty and Juhi Chawla, all sported this look both on and off-screen.

High-Waist Pants

High-waisted pants are consistently in vogue. They enhance your height and leanness, and they also look good on most body types. It’s no surprise that it has found its way back through every fashionista’s collection.

A Sequin Dress

The latest Bollywood divas’ preferred attire is a sequin dress, although they are still unable to accessorize like Rani Mukherjee did in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The outfits’ glimmer and glitter rarely fail to catch my eye.

Ruffled Sleeves

In the 1980s, ruffles were highly fashionable. However, Vogue is currently featuring this retro fashion combo. In the movie still with Jeetendra, Dreamgirl Hema Malini is sporting a ruffled-sleeve top with a patterned dress. This style is decadent when accessorized with a pearl choker and bracelet.
